Ichiran Shibuya

Ichiran Ramen: The Ultimate Solo Dining Experience
Ichiran is one of Japan's most iconic ramen chains, famous for its rich and flavorful tonkotsu (pork bone) broth. What makes Ichiran unique is the individual booth system — you sit in a private space separated by partitions, allowing you to fully concentrate on your ramen.
How to Order
When you arrive, use the vending machine at the entrance to purchase your meal ticket. Then, fill out the order sheet to customize your ramen: choose your broth richness, noodle firmness, garlic level, spiciness, and more.
What to Expect
The signature tonkotsu broth is creamy and deeply savory, paired with thin straight noodles that hold the soup perfectly. The special red chili sauce in the center adds a kick of heat. If you're still hungry, you can order extra noodles (kaedama) by pressing the call button.
Tips for Visitors
- No Japanese needed — the order sheet is available in English
- Open late night, perfect for a post-drinks meal
- Expect a short wait during peak hours, but the line moves quickly
- Try the "half-boiled egg" topping for the full experience
