Omoide Yokocho

Memory Lane
Omoide Yokocho, also known as Memory Lane, is a narrow network of tiny alleys lined with small yakitori bars and izakayas. Located right next to Shinjuku Station west exit, this atmospheric spot has been serving workers and travelers since the post-war era.
Most shops seat only 6-10 people at a counter, creating an intimate and lively atmosphere. The smoke from charcoal grills fills the air as chefs prepare skewers of chicken, pork, and offal right in front of you.
What to Order
Order a few skewers, a cold beer, and soak in the atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable — you can eat and drink well for under 2,000 yen.
Some shops have English menus, but pointing at what others are eating works just as well. Most shops are cash only.
